Eligibility and Limitations
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in fields related to electrical/electronics engineering at universities/colleges approved by the Taiwan Ministry of Education. However, the program is not open to the following applicants:

1. Applicants who have been granted Overseas Chinese Student status.

2. Applicants who have been expelled from other universities in Taiwan, R.O.C.

3. Applicants who are residents and/or citizens of Hong Kong, Macau, or The People’s Republic of China.

4. Applicants who have withdrawn their allegiance and citizenship from Taiwan, R.O.C. (However, this item can be overruled when the applicant has no R.O.C. nationality at the time of their application shall have an annulled status regarding their R.O.C. nationality for no less than 8 years after an annulment of R.O.C. nationality by the Ministry of the Interior.)

 

Required Application Materials
1. Two copies of completed application forms.
2. Photocopy of a valid passport or Alien Resident Certificate or birth certificate.
3. Copies of Diploma and Transcript of Record:


(a) Two photocopies of diploma (should be authenticated by Taiwan representative office in the area where the university is located).
* Please note that applicants who are admitted to the program MUST provide a diploma verified by the Taiwan Embassy/Representative Office to register at the university.
(b) Two photocopies of diploma translated in English/Chinese if the original copy is written in any other language.
(c) Two original copies of transcript of record (should be authenticated by Taiwan representative office in the area where the university is located and have them stamped and sealed by the university).
(d) Two copies of transcript of record translated in English/Chinese if the original copy is written in any other language.


4. One copy of medical certificate signed by a certified medical practitioner conducted within 6 months from the application date.
5. Copies of English proficiency verification. Applicants from countries where English is not the native language, or those who have completed their bachelor’s degree at a non-English speaking academic institution, are required to take the TOEFL or provide English-proficiency verification.(TOEFL score iBT-TOEFL of 61 / CBT-TOEFL of 173/ Paper-based TOEFL of 500 / IELTS of 5.0.)
6. Two sealed letters of recommendation
7. Study Plan.
8. Proof of the loss of nationality of Taiwan, R.O.C. According to the Article 2 of the Law of Nationality, overseas Chinese applicant should have lost the R.O.C. nationality for a prescriptive period of 8 years (Starting from the date of the approval from the Ministry of the Interior to the date of the registration of National Sun Yat-sen University).
9. Optional: Research output, thesis, publication or any material that can further support application.

 

How to Apply

to complete application procedure online, print and sign the following forms: (a) application form, (b) statutory declaration form, and (c) statement of declaration.  These signed documents should either be mailed or delivered in person to the Office of International Affairs at Room 1006 of the Administration Building before the deadline.

2. Optional: Applying for the Scholarship (strongly recommended)
There are 3 kinds of scholarships available for the applicants. The applicants may apply these different scholarships at the same time, but may only be granted one of these.


(a) TaiwanICDF scholarship
The TaiwanICDF provides each scholarship recipient with a full scholarship, including return airfare, housing, tuition and credit fees, insurance, textbook costs and a monthly allowance (NTD15,000). For more detail of TaiwanICDF scholarship and how to apply, please visit the following website:

*To complete the TaiwanICDF scholarship application, it is also required to complete and submit the requested documents to the university before March 31st.


(b) Taiwan scholarship

Scholarship recipients will be given a monthly stipend of NT$30,000 for degree programs. Recipients are responsible for all expenses during their stay in Taiwan. MOFA will provide recipients with one-way, economy-class plane tickets for direct flights to and from Taiwan.

(c) NSYSU scholarship

*A monthly allowance of up to NTD 15,000 will be granted for master students.

*This scholarship is valid for one academic year. Students enrolled in the fall semester will receive the scholarship from September to next August; students enrolled in the spring semester will receive the scholarship from March to next February. Application will be reviewed on a yearly basis.

*Master students can apply for a maximum of two.
